SUMMARY OF COFFEE TABLE BOOK MEETING
14 APRIL 2025
2.30 PM – 4.30 PM
The Coffee Table Book initiative is organised by the Allied Coordinating Council of Islamic NGOs (ACCIN), with the support of the Interactive Muslimah Association (IMAN), the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC-IIUM), the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM), and the Ministry of National Unity (KPN).
The meeting brought together heads of various religious communities in Malaysia for a discussion titled “The Harmonious Nation – Cherishing Shared Values.” Held at ISTAC Kuala Lumpur, the session focused on the vision and development of a coffee table book that highlights Malaysia’s interfaith unity through compelling visuals, thoughtful design, and meaningful storytelling.
Book Concept
The coffee table book will:
-Showcase Malaysia’s diverse religious heritage and ongoing interfaith initiatives.
-Highlight the shared values that form the foundation of national harmony.
-Emphasise the importance of trust, mutual respect, and understanding in fostering unity.
Unity in Diversity
Although each religion has unique beliefs and doctrines, the moral values upheld in Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, and other faiths consistently advocate for peace, compassion, and unity. These shared values create a strong platform for Malaysians to celebrate their differences while standing together as one people.
