More than 200 religious leaders, academics, policymakers, youth representatives and civil society figures from Malaysia and abroad gathered here yesterday to exchange views on strengthening interfaith understanding and promoting social peace at the International Interfaith Peace Conference (IIPC) 2026.
Themed “Melaka and Malaysia as a Meeting Point of Faith, Culture, Diversity and Harmony Towards Cohesive Nation Building”, the fifth edition was organised by the Allied Coordinating Council of Islamic NGOs Malaysia (Accin), in collaboration with the Doha International Centre for Interfaith Dialogue (Dicid) and the National Unity Ministry.
The conference was officiated by Melaka Governor Tun Dr Mohd Ali Rustam.
Also present were National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang and Accin chief executive officer Ir Mohd Jamaludin Shamsudin, who is also IIPC 2026 chairman.
Jamaludin said the theme and location were particularly relevant as the world became increasingly interconnected while facing deepening divisions and conflicts.
